On December 4, 2014, Tessa David had a massive stroke at the age of 28. She laid in her bed, trapped in her apartment and unable to call for help, for almost 2 days before anyone found her.
After the stroke, Tessa could not walk or talk, or move her right arm or right leg. She was very limited in her movement. She also had a horrible ringing in her ears.
Tessa started traditional physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) after being released from the ICU. She was given an ankle-foot orthotic (AFO )to use on her right foot and leg. She did therapy for two hours every day, and she would be exhausted afterwards. In addition, her right arm would contract after each session.
Jill Bolte Taylor recommended that Tessa go see Anat Baniel. Tessa began receiving NeuroMovement® lessons at the ABM Center in San Rafael, CA. She did a 3-week intensive and also received a number of lessons over the course of one year.
Almost immediately, the ringing in her ears stopped. Within 2 months, Tessa was able to walk (up and down stairs), her mobility increased greatly, and her speech slowly improved.
Two years later, Tessa continues to get better, her movement is more fluid, and her speech has improved significantly. Tessa was so inspired by the Method that she joined the ABM NeuroMovement® Practitioner Training program and is working on becoming a certified practitioner.
“I don’t know where I would be, if it wasn’t for Anat’s training. I want to continue to get better every day and help others in life.”
