My daughter Hannah suffered an in utero stroke and was diagnosed with a right-sided hemiplegia at 8 months of age. We cried when we got the diagnosis. And we spent every waking hour looking for things that could benefit her.
Hannah’s 4th birthday was fast approaching and all the traditional therapies, and some non-traditional, had failed to help her. My baby girl was not getting any better, maybe even a little worse, and we were frustrated.
Then we found Anat Baniel Method (ABM) NeuroMovement . I was hesitant at first, but after researching it for a few months and also finding great benefit for my own pain and tension, my wife and I decided to go to Marin County in California to give ABM a try.
Within the first couple of days of lessons the difference in the way that the practitioners handled my daughter was palpable. So much so that I put in an application for the ABM NeuroMovement Practitioner Training! In that first week I saw my daughter begin using and recognizing her arm for the first time in her life!
In the past, Hannah could only ride her tricycle a few feet before I would have to give her a push to get going again. When we got home from our ABM trip, she got on her tricycle and tore up and down the block unassisted! It was amazing and she was so proud of herself!
That was in February 2010. Since then I have become a practitioner and can use ABM NeuroMovement everyday with her, if time permits! We still go to the center as often as we can too because of the remarkable changes that we continue to see when Anat and her team work with our daughter.
Now Hannah is quite active. She does ballet, horseback riding lessons, swimming and she still likes to go for her ABM lessons because she knows how much they help her.
Instead of being frustrated we can now see that Hannah is going to live a full and vibrant life thanks to ABM NeuroMovement!
