We have received testimonials and stories from many parents of the children with whom we have worked. Below is a very small sampling of these stories.

My third child was born with a genetic disorder which caused him to have many developmental delays including delayed speech, delayed motor development, ADHD, sensory integration disorders, and a host of learning disabilities both verbal and non verbal. He was in traditional therapy for two years with limited results. For over nine years (with ABM), his progress has been steady, often bordering on the miraculous. His coordination is now like that of an average normal child his age. He never stops talking, and has a wonderful sense of humor. He is able to think and reason, read and write. He is doing unbelievably well. Anat’s greatest gift to me is that she gave me back my son.

Isaac was born five weeks premature and on his 30th day of life contracted meningitis and suffered seizures and a stroke. Isaac was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and left visual field impairment. We began taking him to physical therapy which was a miserable experience for us. At five months Isaac had his first session with Anat. She told me that despite Isaac’s brain trauma he was fundamentally healthy and had every chance of developing normally. I found it hard to believe. This was contrary to what all the medical professionals were telling me but decided to work exclusively with the Anat Baniel Method. Even though it was a long road, she was right! Today, Isaac is a healthy, intelligent, and happy boy in first grade; he speaks three languages; and has no problems with vision. He walks, runs, and keeps growing.

Lucas is a beautiful five-year-old boy, full of vitality and curiosity. However, he has not always been that way. Lucas was born with a congenital heart defect that required immediate surgery after birth, and then suffered a massive stroke. We first heard about the Anat Baniel Method when Lucas was about two-and-a-half years old. At that point, he had already been in the therapeutic system for two years and we were told that it was very likely that Lucas would never walk unassisted and not talk. Therapy was an incredibly traumatic experience for Lucas. We decided to take Lucas for a visit with Anat Baniel. Lucas was and continues to be absolutely transformed by the work of Anat and the practitioners that she has trained. Lucas has surpassed all of the highest hopes we held for him. He can walk, run, talk and play just as any ‘normal’ child can. He went from a fearful, withdrawn child to one who takes on every challenge he can find! He loves life! He is a brilliant child, and it was the Anat Baniel Method that helped him to recognize his brilliance again.

Elizabeth Works with Anat Baniel

Anat Baniel’s introduction to children with special needs began when she met a baby named Elizabeth in September of 1980. During this time, Anat was working with her teacher and mentor Dr. Moshé Feldenkrais.

Elizabeth has been a decisive influence in my career. Over and over again I witnessed the power of her brain to change in the face of seemingly insurmountable limitations and I realized that if it is possible for one person, it is possible for others. Through a gradual process, over many years, I have defined the conditions the brain requires for powerful brain change—what I call the 9 Essentials for Vitality®. I evolved what I learned from Dr. Feldenkrais and my own experience into a coherent NeuroMovement approach that I now call the Anat Baniel Method.
