With Anat Baniel, M.A., Eilat Almagor PhD, Elizabeth Torres, PhD, Martha Herbert, MD, PhD, and Neil Sharp, MD

Recorded on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 5:30PM PST / 8:30PM EST

This event was offered in collaboration with the ABM®NeuroMovement® Association INTL

During this event we:

Answered your questions, and were interested in your comments and observations regarding our recently published article in Frontiers in Integrative Neuroscience titled: From fixing to Connecting—developing mutual empathy guided through movement as a novel path for the discovery of better outcomes in autism The article has already been viewed by over 7,200 people. 1. Dr Elizabeth Torres will present the results of an ABM®NeuroMovement® research study performed in the Lloydminster Catholic School District in Canada. She will also present her breakthrough technology that allows to get detailed data of what is occurring in the brain of both the recipient (in our case children), and the provider of the intervention (teacher/aids/parents/etc) in terms of potency of organic learning, and whether the intervention is upgrading or degrading the functioning of the brain and the subjective experience of the child. The data analysis thus far shows very exciting outcomes.
  2. After Dr Torres’s short presentation, we will open the floor for questions or comments addressed to any of the panel participants.

The Panel:

Anat Baniel
A trained clinical psychologist, dancer, and close professional associate of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais for over a decade, she is the founder of Anat Baniel Method® NeuroMovement®.

With over 40 years of breakthrough outcomes with thousands of children with special needs and adults with strokes, injuries, and also high performers, Anat defined the conditions – the Nine Essentials, that are supported by neuroscience research – that dramatically enhance and potentiate the brain’s ability to learn and the person to thrive. She is the author of Move Into Life and Kids Beyond Limits.

Eilat Almagor
Eilat Almagor is a senior Trainer in the Feldenkrais Method. She graduated from Moshe Feldenkrais’ training in Amherst in 1983.

Eilat has a PhD in neurobiology, MSc. in environmental science, and a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.

She works with babies and children with special needs as well as adults, teaches in the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and directs professional Feldenkrais trainings internationally.

Currently Eilat also leads a project that incorporates the Feldenkrais movement work in schools to enhance and potentiate the students’ learning. She collaborates with neuroscientists in Israel, Germany, and the US in scientific research aimed at studying the effects of the Feldenkrais method on brain activity.

Elizabeth Torres PhD
Dr. Elizabeth Torres received her PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego and did her post-doctoral training at CALTECH. She has been on the faculty and is a professor at Rutgers University since 2008, and her research has been focused on the measurement and diagnosis of sensory-motor deficits. Considered a world expert in her field, Dr. Torres leads the Sensory Integration Motion Lab at Rutgers, and previously led the New Jersey Autism Center of Excellence. She has published Autism: The Movement Sensing Perspective (2021) and more than 50 peer-reviewed research papers.

Martha Herbert
Martha Herbert, MD, PhD, author of The Autism Revolution: Whole-Body Strategies for Making Life All It Can Be, is an emeritus assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, was a pediatric neurologist at Massachusetts General Hospital, and an affiliate of the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging.

She approaches autism as a “dynamic encephalopathy” (something that can change) rather than a “static encephalopathy” (something that is fixed for life). Martha Herbert also explores how environmental vulnerability affects brain and body health and function.

Neil Sharp
Neil Sharp has devoted his career to advancing brain health, working alongside Anat Baniel for over 20 years as an NeuroMovement Practitioner, Trainer, and Researcher. A former medical doctor trained at Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities, Neil transitioned from medicine to pursue his passions for opera singing, brain plasticity and learning, combining science and art in his unique professional journey.
